FOREIGN QUESTION

Postby bc4mw on Sun Jul 27, 2008 5:37 am

this is probably not the place you want this question asked. But your topic header said ask a question and you would get me an answer.
I have been wondering why so many people are against the Toyota. Granted it is a foreign car, and seems to be the problem. But all of these cars are made in America by Americans. So it is not taking any jobs away from any of us Americans.
By the same token, there are numerous foreign drivers coming into Nascar. Why are the drivers taken in with open arms and admiration, when the cars are being knocked. If you think of it, the foreign drivers are taking jobs away from Americans. I have been trying to rationalize this and do not have an answer. Do you? To me foreign is foreign and if we can love and respect the drivers, why can't we do the same about the car?................babs

I drive a Toyota and a Honda. I have for years, they maintain their value better. In my opinion it is a few judgmental people who cause all this commotion. It is why I can no longer stand Roush. He has been horribly anti Toyota. He drives the Fix Or Repair Daily model..... I agree the cars are built here and providing American jobs. Besides our Presidents and congress opened all this free trade. I don't know Babs, I sure disagree with all the naysayers. What a wonderful world we could have if people could just accept others with their differences.

Babs, don't worry about it. You're never going to make the morons understand anything because even if you tell them that Toyotas are made in America, by Americans, the first thing out of their mouths is that the money still goes back to Japan. Then, when you remind them that not ALL of it goes back to Japan, that Toyota not only has to pay the people working in the plants, but the electric bill, buy the land, pay taxes on everything, not to mention paying Pepsi and Coke and other snack food companies to put machines in the plants for people to eat and drink, then pay for land on the dealerships, electricity, water, the salesmen, mechanics, office folk, more snack food people, taxes, and everything else associated with running a huge business like that, you'll hear something like "They get a tax break and the money will STILL go back to Japan". You just can't win because the "money goes back to Japan" is their only comment. For the idiots, that's all that matters. Didn't matter one bit when Chevy & Ford moved plants to Mexico and Canada, didn't matter when Dodge took themselves out of NASCAR, then sold themselves to Daimler-Chrysler(aka a GERMAN company), didn't matter that the Germans brought Dodge back into NASCAR, they still consider them "American" simply because they started off that way. It's all BS, and nobody has a legitimate complaint that has a leg to stand on but you can't tell them that, because then you'd be "Un-American" or "Anti-American". Heck, I actually shut someone up when they claimed anyone driving a "foreign" car is a traitor. I told them "How about you come here to Luke Air Force Base and tell all these military folks that they are un-American for driving a Toyota, Lexus, Dodge, Nissan, or anything else" Didn't hear back from them again.

Well you know, it's like this Indian(from India) comedian said recently....... the US is the biggest producer of American flags and Iraq is the biggest burner of American flags. Think about it, to burn OUR flag, they have to buy them FROM US. So they are PAYING US to burn our flag. LOLOLOL
