Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the new format will allow at least one, if not 2 of the MWR teams to compete in the shootout.
The Budweiser Shootout, NASCAR's season-opening event, will undergo a major format change in 2009 with the top-six drivers in owner’s points for each car manufacturer eligible for a starting berth. NASCAR’s season-opening event is scheduled for Saturday night, Feb. 7 at Daytona International Speedway.

NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jamie McMurray, Reed Sorenson, David Stremme and Michael Waltrip are scheduled to take part in the fourth annual Sprint Sound & Speed Festival in Nashville next month.
Country music duo Montgomery Gentry will headline the opening day at the Sommet Center in Nashville on Jan. 9, while the drivers will be on hand the following day to sign autographs and meet fans at the Municipal Auditorium.
